Tribe Top Woodward in State Tournament Opener

Pitching was the story once again for the Doenges Ford Indians as they topped Woodward 4-2 on the back of a complete game performance from Randsom Jones on the mound. The Indians move to 1-0 in the AABC State Tournament in Enid.

Jones gave up one earned run in a shaky first inning but would dominate the rest of the way. The left-hander dealt six strike outs while giving up just five hits. It took Jones 113 pitches to finish the game. Here was the final out as heard on KWON.

Bartlesville’s patience at the plate was a big benefit in the win. The Tribe work six walks to lead an offensive attack that only managed two hits. Both knocks came in the third inning. Harald Borg placed a perfect bunt for an infield single. One batter later, Andrew Harden would knock in two runs on this base hit.

Bartlesville is now 17-19 on the summer season. The Indians will get back at it on Thursday against Shockers Black at 2:30 p.m. Radio coverage can be heard on Sportstalk 1500—99.1 FM KPGM. You can also watch the game online as well on KWONTV.com.
