Trojans Hoping for Practice Time Ahead of Playoffs

When the playoffs do begin it will be a quick ramp up for all area teams who have been held to limited or no practices during the current freeze out. The Caney Valley Trojans have been in the gym just one time since a February 4 victory over Barnsdall.

The good news for the Trojans came as the OSSAA decided to delay the 2A district playoffs—meaning CV will play Monday instead of Friday. Caney Valley will travel to Chelsea for a non-elimination playoff opener. Trojans head coach Tug Brinker talks about preparing for the district playoffs.

Like many other teams the Trojans have dealt with extended stoppages already this season. Caney Valley is 8-6 on the season but had lost four of its last five games before the shutdown. The Trojans briefly had a stint in the 2A top 20 rankings.

In their lone meeting this year Chelsea beat CV 61-45 on January 26. The district playoff game is set for 8 p.m. on February 22 from Chelsea High School.
