Tryouts for Bruin Baseball

Despite the high school baseball season being nearly seven months off, Bartlesville High is getting set to work under a new regime.

First year head coach Cody Price is in town, and as is usual, the Bruins will hold tryouts for the baseball team in early August. BHS will have tryouts on Monday and Tuesday at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

Older guys, juniors and seniors, will go on Monday. Freshman and sophomores will be on Tuesday. Tryouts begin at 9:00 AM. Price just finished up moving his family into Bartlesville over the past week and he says he is ready to meet some of his players.

Price had been a longtime assistant at the Mustang High School baseball program. He takes over for Austin Jarvis, who left Bartlesville to go back to Victory Christian after one-year with the program.

This job will be Price’s first as a high school head coach. Price has ties to the Nowata area, which drew him to Green Country to begin with. Price says thus far Bartlesville has been great for him and his family.

Price also cited support from the athletic department as a big upside for the job. He went on to mention the possibility of turf at Bill Doenges as a drawing factor. That upgrade is up for vote in a week in the BPS Bond Issue
