Two Area Clubs Advance in Playoffs

If you missed high school football over the weekend, we had a couple area teams advance into the second round and are getting set for bigger games this coming Friday.

Wesleyan Christian School won its first playoff game in nine years, as the Mustangs beat down Sasakwa 35-16 this past Friday in Bartlesville. It was the first round of the Class C postseason.

It was all Mustangs from the start. 21-unanswered points midway through the contest is what lead to the victory. Outstanding games from Tyrel Cloud and Kaden Fisher stood out as highlights.

Here is how the final call sounded on Friday night.

WCS moves on to make a long road trip to Mt. View-Gotebo on Friday night. The Tigers are a perfect 11-0 on the year. We will have much more on this matchup later on this week.

Pawhuska had a blowout victory at home over Hominy. The Huskies won the Battle of the Osage round two pretty easily in the Class A first round, 43-12.

Pawhuska was up 36-6 in the early going and cruised in the second half. Pawhuska lost to the Bucks at home in the regular season back in September.

Head coach Matt Hennesy says he was pleased with the way his team responded after that loss.

Pawhuska has not lost in 2021 since that win. It is eight straight victories for the Huskies.

They will host Colcord on Friday night at Ormond Beach Stadium in the Class A second round. That’s a contest we will carry for you on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM and KPGMTV.com.
