A new era is set to begin for Lady Dogger basketball. Dewey Public Schools announced the hiring of David Vann at its school board meeting on Monday.

Vann comes in with a wealth of coaching experience. Vann has 15 years of coaching experience most recently at Lawton’s MacArthur High School where he guided the Highlanders to the 5A state tournament Quarterfinals.

The veteran coach also has stops at Dove Science Academy in Tulsa where he spent two season as the boys’ head coach. Prior to his first head coaching gig Vann spent 12 seasons as assistant at various stops in Oklahoma including Jenks and Muskogee.

Vann gives a brief on his coaching philosophy.

Vann takes over for Ernest Jones who went 24-50 over three seasons. The goal for 2018-2019 Lady Doggers is simple for Vann.

Dewey went 7-17 last season.

Coach Vann played collegiately at Tarleton State University in Texas as well as professional stops overseas in Australia and Spain.
