WSC Football Sees Numbers Increase

We continue our look at spring football, as Wesleyan Christian School has an important season in its program’s history.

The Mustangs returned to the OSSAA last season, only to see some numbers issues cause them to co-op with Copan to ensure they would have a season in 2018.

Numbers of players out for the team have improved, and Wesleyan Christian will go it alone in 2019. The squad is back under the direction of head coach Curt Cloud. Cloud talks about his team this fall.

The Mustangs will return nine players from the team a year ago. Wesleyan Christian is benifitting from a large freshman class this year as well, with five or six committing to playing football.

Cloud says there are 13 guys solidly committed to playing football, with a few more on the fence. If WCS has some things break its way, it could get to nearly 20 guys out for the team this year. Cloud says the mix of young and old should benefit not only this year’s team, but future Mustang clubs as well.

Cloud says he expects a few guest coaches to come and help with spring workouts, along with going through a team camp after Memorial Day.

Southwest Covenant and Foyil will be a few squads and coaches helping out.

Wesleyan will compete in Class B District 7 this fall.
