Bartlesville Man Facing Seven Charges for Fraudulent Loans

A Bartlesville man was seen in court this Wednesday on six total charges detailing two charges of accessing computer system with unlawful intent, two charges of fraudulently obtaining personal identity of others, two charges of obtain property by false pretense, and obstructing an officer. Eric Clifton was seen by video conference for his Wednesday arraignment on the above charges.
According to an affidavit, Clifton filled out online applications with World Finance for $5,000, Bell’s Finance for $1,500, and a loan from Continental Credit for $1,800 with false identification and info of an actual person. Clifton told officers that he received the victim’s information from the dark web.
Clifton refused to give officers his name multiple times when asked, but eventually would give his identity. Clifton was given a bond of $100,000 and will be seen again in court on Thursday, Oct. 26th.
