Marty Quinn to Announce Campaign for Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner

Tom Davis
Former state senator Marty Quinn says he’s preparing to jump back into public service by running of Oklahoma’s top insurance job.
Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION, Quinn and former state representative Earl Sears revealed the aim to officially launch a campaign for Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner next Monday.
“It’s our plan next Monday to announce that we’re running for insurance commissioner,” Quinn said on the program.
Quinn served as a Republican in the Oklahoma House from 2010 to 2014 and in the Senate from 2014 to 2022 before term limits ended his legislative tenure. He also ran an insurance agency in Claremore until 2021. Quinn said, "I believe my experience would serve me well in the role.
“The insurance commissioner oversees how things are run. I'd be making sure there’s a competitive market and that consumers are protected,” Quinn said. “It’s about finding that balance between regulating the industry and making sure companies can thrive, while ensuring Oklahomans get fair coverage and their claims are honored.”
He stresswed the importance of building trust and maintaining fairness, saying his career in both insurance and public service gives him a unique perspective. “At the end of the day, you’ve got to know right from wrong,” he said. “I’ve been a legislator, an agent, a business owner, but most importantly, I’ve been a consumer.”
Sears offered a glowing endorsement. “You could not find a finer gentleman,” Sears said. “He’s a man of integrity with a strong work ethic, and I’m proud to support him.”
Quinn’s campaign launch is expected Monday. If elected, he would succeed current Commissioner Glenn Mulready, who is term-limited.
