Bartlesville Falls to Union

Bartlesville High basketball opened its season on Tuesday night, with a home contest against their Frontier Valley Conference rival Union. Unfortunately, both would fall in lopsided contests.

On the girl’s side Bartlesville lost to the Redhawks 50-30.

It was a good start for BHS. The Lady Bruins led throughout most of the first quarter and trailed 12-10 after the first. However, Bartlesville would go nearly 12 minutes without a point from a span late in the first and did not score the entire second quarter. Mikka Chambers finished with 16 after a great second half.

On the guy’s side another long scoreless streak would put the writing on the wall. Union beat the Bruins 67-32.

The Redhawks scored the first 23 points of the game to put it away early.

Bartlesville got its first field goal from Riley Duong on this driving shot at the buzzer.

Trae Collins was a major bright spot, as well. The sophomore point guard got the start and would make four three-pointers on the night. Including this first one, which was one of six made threes for Bartlesville on the night.

Both BHS teams start out at 0-1, but both will have more winnable games in their first road trip of the season at US Grant on Friday night.
