Bartlesville High track and field will send 12 student athletes to state this morning in Oklahoma City, and several BHS athletes will have a good chance to place or set school records this weekend.

There are a couple main things to watch early in the event. Gentry Turner will try to get the gold medal in the two-mile. Turner is the odds-on favorite to win the race. She has set the BHS 3200 school record multiple times.

This race happens to be one of the first of the weekend, and head coach David Ayres says he hopes it sets the tone for the Bruins.

Another race to watch early on Friday, the Bartlesville 4 X 100-meter relay. Heading into the tournament, BHS is right on the cut line of making the finals.

Ayres talks about what he would like to see from the relay team early on Friday.

Campbell Barta and Kadence Barnett in shorter distance races along with Wesley Turner in the boy’s pole vault are other events to watch this weekend at 6A State. The meet will begin at 9:45 this morning in Oklahoma City.
