With the passage of Tuesday night’s Bartlesville Public School’s bond issue, there will be several new amenities for Bartlesville athletes.

The facility upgrades in the bond will not only benefit Bartlesville High School athletes, but athletes of all ages in the community that utilize the affected areas.

The track at Custer Stadium will get a full makeover. This includes redoing the entire subsurface so that the top surface will last longer. BPS will also build indoor hitting facilities for both baseball and softball. The baseball facility will be at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium while the softball will be at the softball complex by Madison Middle School. The softball complex will also have an indoor facility for golf.

Bartlesville High Athletic and Activities Director Thad Dilbeck says these extra indoor facilities will help alleviate scheduling issues in the main indoor facility during the spring.

In addition to the upgrades for athletes, the visitor’s stands at Custer Stadium, which have undergone major wear and tear, will be redone.

The passage of the bond continues the upgrades for Bartlesville’s athletic facilities from previous bond issues, which include turf at Bill Doenges Stadium, a new Custer Stadium press box, enhanced practice fields and other items.
