Bruin Basketball Begins Tuesday Night

Unofficial start of high school basketball across Northeast Oklahoma on Tuesday night, as most high schools are in action locally.

Bartlesville High will begin a new-look 2023-24 season at home in a Frontier Valley Conference double-header against Union.

Both the BHS girls and boys will be breaking in fresh faces, as mainstays such as David Castillo, Aadhi Ayyappan, KK Duncan and others have graduated or moved on.

On the Bruin guy’s side, Riley Duong is the main returner back from a season ago. Duong was a solid three-point threat in Bartlesville’s back court last year.

Stewart says he will have an expanded role this winter.

Duong will be the only Bruin returner who saw significant minutes a year ago – meaning BHS will have four new starters and everyone else who plays tonight will be a new guy to a regular varsity rotation.

Stewart talks about a few of the new names.

Senior Eli Robertson the last guy Stewart was speaking of. On the Lady Bruin side BHS returns more, including Mikka Chambers who was Bartlesville’s leading scorer in the second semester last year.

Girls will tip off at 6:30 with the boys around 8:00 on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1. Video coverage on KWONTV.com.

This is one of only two home games for BHS before the Christmas holiday.
