Bruins Swept at Putnam City in Hoops
Both the Bartlesville High boys’ and girls’ basketball teams had their moments on the road at Putnam City on Tuesday night, but both were unable to complete victories in 6A-District 3 action.
On the girl’s side, BHS struggled in the second and third quarters, but surged in the fourth. Bartlesville would end up losing to the Pirates 54-49. The Bruins trailed by as many as 19-points before a ferocious comeback will fall short.
Twice BHS cut the Putnam City lead to five in the final minute, but could never draw within a possession.
Mikka Chambers hit this shot to again threaten the Pirates late.
Meanwhile on the guy’s side a late third-quarter drought cost BHS. Putnam City topped the Bruins, 60-32.
BHS trailed by 12 points early but surged in the second and early third quarters. Riley Duong scored 22 of the first 25 points for the Bruins.
After this offensive rebound Bartlesville had its only lead of the game - early in the third.
Putnam City would dial up the pressure from there on out. The Pirates went on a 21-0 run over the course of the next seven minutes to put the game away.
Both BHS teams are 1-2 on the year and in District play.
No game Friday for the Bruin guys. Lady Bruins have a single game at Muskogee in non-District action on Friday night. Both teams next have a double-header at Enid in District play on Tuesday.
