Copan Looks to Future After Playoff Loss
Copan football has a lot to look forward to after a successfull 2023 fall.
The Hornets fell on the road at Thackerville in the Class C first round on Friday night, 52-6. The game ended late in the third quarter.
Head coach Marshall Foreman says that Thackerville outperformed the Hornets on the offensive and defensive line. A conversion on fourth and 18 early in the game put Copan behind the eight-ball and it struggled to come back.
This was Copan’s first playoff appearance since 2009. The Hornets were quite young, with about 16 of their 21 players being freshman or sophomores.
Foreman talks about a couple special seniors who helped Copan grow this fall.
The objective for Copan now becomes clear – find a way to take a step forward this offseason with the young core. The Hornets will be in a different District in Class C next fall.
Foreman talks about what he wants his guys to work on now until the spring.
Copan’s District mates next year will be Medford, Bluejacket, Deer-Creek Lamont, Oaks, South Coffeyville, Watts and Welch.
