Girls Win, Boys Fall for Bruins v Sand Springs
Bartlesville High basketball split a conference and District twin bill on Tuesday night at home against Sand Springs.
BHS girls beat the Sandites, 64-55.
It was the most complete performance of the year early for the Lady Bruins. They led by 22 at halftime, but Sand Springs never stopped. The Sandites would eventually cut the Bruin lead to two possessions.
This pass to Adrianne Flick helped close out the game.
Alayah Lunn led Bartlesville in scoring with 18. She made five threes. BHS girls improve to 2-1.
The Bartlesville guys hung around, but Sand Springs eventually pulled away in the final 15 minutes to top the Bruins, 68-52.
BHS cut a 12-point deficit down to one in the final minutes of the second quarter, which gave Bruin Field House some life. Dennis Duncan was one of the standouts.
The Sandites would push the lead to 10 at half. Bartlesville rallied from 20-points down to get the lead to 12 in the fourth quarter but could get no closer. Bruins fall to 1-1.
Nash Zervas and Duncan were both in double-figures.
Bartlesville boys will travel to Latta for the Latta Tournament beginning on Thursday night at 7:45.
The Lady Bruins will next host Muskogee for a single non-District game on Friday.
