Huskies Facing Tough Schedule in 2024

After being up in Class 2A for the last two years, Pawhuska is moving back down to its more familiar surroundings of Class A football. Classes 2A, A and B have been split up into two classifications this year, with Pawhuska being in the larger of the two classes for Class A. The Huskies will be in District Three and face the likes of Pawnee, Morrison and Tonkawa.

That also includes a week zero matchup with a Nowata team that went winless in 2021, but had four wins in 2023. Their non-district foes will be against cross county rival Hominy, Woodland and a Meeker squad that Hennesy knows will be a tough test as well.

With the split districts, there are now only 32 teams competing for a state championship. Hennesy said going through fewer teams will make it easier, but Pawhuska will have a tough road ahead.

Pawhuska gets things started this Friday with the Pioneer Woman Classic when they host Rejoice Christian, Dewey and Sperry. The scrimmage starts at 5 p.m. and they ask that you bring laundry detergent for admission.
