It was another split for the Bartlesville High basketball teams on the road at Jenks to wrap up the midway point of the Bruin’s District seasons.

The Bartlesville girls won a gritty close game, but a bad start buried the Bruin guys.

The Lady Bruins won 61-55 to help solidify the girls as a top-half team in 6A District 4.

Neither club had more than a three-possession lead throughout. Bartlesville had a nine-point lead in the final four minutes trimmed to two but made enough plays to grab the victory.

With the lead trimmed, BHS forced a turnover and got this basket from Emma Zimmerman helped put the game away.

BHS played from behind most of the first half. Bartlesville trailed by as many as six. This Alayah Lunn three-pointer put the Bruins back in command.

It was Kenzie Denny who played the hero. Denny scored a season-high 19 points in the victory.

The win moves BHS is 7-4 overall and 4-3 in District play.

On the guy’s side it was a Trojan blitz from the start. Jenks won 64-40.

Jenks got out to a 16-2 lead in the opening minutes and Bartlesville could never get back into it.

Despite the early margin, BHS tied Jenks in the second half at 31 apiece. The Bruins hit seven second half three-pointers to keep pace at the end. Those included two in a row from Hudson Eads.

Dennis Duncan lead the way for Bartlesville with 15 points.

Bruin guys fall to 2-11 and 0-7 in District play. Both teams next host Edmond North on Tuesday at Bruin Field House.
