OKU Football Hosts Nowata Thursday

Oklahoma Union football is gearing up for another Thursday night game as many schools will once again play a day earlier than usual.
The Cougars are home one final time for their biggest rivals, the Nowata Ironmen. Head coach Bruce Munden talked about using senior night as motivation.
A season ago, OKU beat Nowata in a tight game, 28-20. That same Nowata team advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 2019. This season, both teams have just one win and lots of youth on both sides of the ball. The Cougars lost last week to Tonkawa. Nowata lost their senior night last Thursday to Pawnee.
As far as the rivalry goes, OKU has won the last five meetings. Last year's matchup was the first since 2021, when the Cougars shutout the Ironmen, 42-0.
Munden talked about the rivalry.
The Cougars host the Ironmen on Thursday night at 7 p.m. Coverage can be heard on 104.9 - KRIG, with video coverage on KRIGTV.com.
