OKWU Athletics Shine Over Weekend

It was a big weekend for Oklahoma Wesleyan athletics, and we start with the women's soccer team as the Eagles held their home opener on Saturday, as they remained undefeated on the season after a 1-0 win over John Brown University.

It was a late goal from in the 85th minute from senior midfielder Alana Doherty scored the game winner.

Sixth-Year Head Coach Ivan Ristic says it was a big home rivalry win over John Brown. 

The No. 14 OKWU women improve to 3-0-2 on the season, as the Lady Eagles host Southwestern College on Wednesday.

Then in a matchup of top 15 NAIA men's soccer teams, No. 6 Oklahoma Wesleyan used two goals from brothers Kirill and Nikita Pakhomov to edge #14 Mid-American Christian 2-1. Up next, Wesleyan opens conference play against Southwestern College on Wednesday.

OKWU Volleyball stayed red hot as they beat Missouri Valley in straight sets 3-0. Eagles have won 12 straight games and at 15-1 are ranked 6th in the latest NAIA poll.

It marks the first time they are ranked in the top 10 nationally in school history.
