OKWU Softball Standout Named NAIA All-American

Oklahoma Wesleyan softball standout Brooklyn Purtell has been named an NAIA Second Team All-American.
Purtell led the team offensively this spring with a .440 batting average, 69 RBI and 14 home runs in 48 games. She had more home runs than strikeouts.
Purtell transferred to OKWU from Oklahoma Baptist University. She has spent the last three seasons as a Lady Eagle.
Purtell missed a few games this season due to the passing of her father, Clinton Purtell, on March 9 in a car accident.
On top of the national accomplishment, Purtell was named KCAC Player of the Year and was a KCAC First Team All-Conference selection this spring.
The Lady Eagles won 39 games this spring and were one win away from the NAIA national tournament. The team finished 39-13 overall and 20-6 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), good for second in the standings.
