Tryouts for Summer Baseball on Thursday

Thursday is the big day for the Doenges Ford Indians, as the summer tradition will continue for the 84th season in just a couple of weeks.

The first round of tryouts will be on Thursday night at 7:00 at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

Bartlesville will be a 19-and-under team once again this summer, with a more legion-focused schedule than recent years.

It appears that there will be a fair number of current and former Bartlesville High Bruins on the squad again this summer.

However, manager John Pannell says it does not matter what school a player goes to, if they are good enough there is a spot for them on the club.

There have many dozens of notable guys from Dewey, Pawhuska, Barnsdall, Caney Valley, Copan, Oklahoma Union, Caney, KS and beyond.

Pannell also says he wants to emphasize that the program has produced numerous collegiate baseball players over its history – and some recently, too. Two of Bartlesville High’s more recent NCAA Division One players played with the Tribe.

Pannell talks about sending players to the college ranks.

Looks like the Tribe will begin its season at some point over Memorial Day weekend at home.
