Barnsdall and Pawhuska on Verge of History

The two Class A schools in Osage County still kicking in the football postseason will have their second round games on Friday night. Both would be in rarified air with victories on the road.

There are five rounds in the Class A playoff bracket, which means a win on Friday night for Pawhuska or Barnsdall will put them in the state quarterfinals, something which has not happened often across the area.

Pawhuska has had some recent success, with quarterfinal trips in two of the last 10 seasons. The Huskies won back-to-back postseason games in both the 2011 and 2009 postseasons.

Meanwhile Barnsdall has not won two playoff games in a single season since 1979. The Panthers won their first playoff game since 1992 last week, when they beat Commerce on the road.

Pawhuska took care of Oklahoma Union last week in the Huskies first round game.

Pawhuska will take on unbeaten Stroud on Friday night, a 7:00 kick on 99.1 FM – KPGM.

Meanwhile Barnsdall will face 10-1 Gore. The Panthers will air on KRIG 104.9 FM.

We will have a full preview of both those games for you tomorrow on BartlesvilleRadio.com.
