Bruin Win Streak Stops at 10

All good things must come to an end, and the Bartlesville baseball 10-game win streak came to a halt on Tuesday evening at the hands of Bixby.

The Spartans came from behind on two separate occasions and nipped the Bruins 5-4 at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

The loss for Bartlesville marks its first in nearly 20-days.

BHS had a pair of two-run leads, but the Spartans would never go away. Two Bixby runs in the top of the fifth tied the game at four, then in the top of the seventh the Spartans would get a go-ahead single that would end up winning it.

Bartlesville got good production from the middle part of its lineup early. Braden Winters had a pair of doubles, including this one that got the Bruins on the board in the first.

Despite out-hitting Bixby and committing one less error, Bartlesville left too many opportunities on the base paths.

The Bruins had a run thrown out at the plate, and missed another chance to score during a first and third situation. Overall BHS left nine runners on base. Bixby just left four.

The Bruins fall to 11-8 on the season, 3-5 in district play.

Bartlesville is back after it again on Thursday at 6:00 PM at home against Sand Springs, a non-district contest we will have on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
