Bruins Beat Ponca - Take on Glenpool

Bartlesville High baseball has won 12 of its last 15, as the Bruins came from behind late to beat Ponca City in a non-District contest on Thursday evening in Ponca.
BHS topped the Wildcats 5-3. Bartlesville scored two runs in the sixth and an insurance run in the seventh to provide the Bruins with the two-run win.
Bartlesville got great pitching outings from Brenden Asher and Shawn Tate, who combined to throw 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball. Eric Olenburger had the big day offensively. Olenburger was 3-3 with three RBIs and two doubles.
This single from Olenburger in the top of the seventh gave Bartlesville its final margin of victory.
Asher got the start on the mound after not pitching earlier this week after the Booker T. postponement. Ponca threatened with two guys on with one out in the second inning when Asher induced a double-play to get out of the jam.
Bartlesville improves to 14-6 on the season. The Bruins have moved up their game with Glenpool on Friday afternoon to 1:00 PM at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.
It is the final non-District game for BHS before next week’s big series with Stillwater on Monday.
