Bruins Drop Home Opener

The home opener didn’t go as planned for the Bartlesville Bruins as they fell to Del City, 33-7. It was a defensive struggle in the early goings with neither side scoring in the first quarter.

The defense forced a fumble early in the second quarter but weren’t able to capitalize on it. Del City would get the ball back and punch it in the endzone to take a 7-0 lead just before the break.

Del City would assert its dominance in the third quarter as they got on the board twice while the Bruin offense continued to struggle. By midway through the fourth Del City would add on to its lead making the score 33-0.

Bartlesville’s lone touchdown came late in the contest on breakaway 63-yard touchdown from tailback DeAndre Young.

Young would finish with 169 yards on the ground. The Bartlesville passing game would struggle with Ben Winters totaling just 85 yards in his first career start.

The Bruins fall to 1-2 on the year and will square off with Booker T. Washington to open up districts on Thursday.
