It was a fun night of basketball on Friday at the old Phillips Fieldhouse, as both Bartlesville basketball teams won against Bishop Kelley on Throwback Night.

The Lady Bruins blasted the Lady Comets, winning 62-39. Bartlesville sprinted out to an early 17-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and did not look back. The BHS lead would never be less than 14. Four three-pointers from Bartlesville in the first period set the tone. This trey from Trinity Parker put BHS up 8-0.

Bartlesville was led in scoring by Jena' Williams. She had 22 points, including five three-pointers. BHS improves to 19-0 on the season, and sweeps the season series over Bishop Kelley.

On the guy’s side, it was more nip and tuck. The Bruins prevailed 50-44. Bartlesville was up by as many as 13 in the second half, but Bishop Kelley cut the lead to one in the fourth quarter. An 11-0 Comet run to begin the fourth made the game interesting again.

After Bartlesville dribbled a minute and a half of time off the clock stalling midway through the final quarter, the Bruins pulled away. This bucket from Tayo Dina put Bartlesville up six.

Dina led BHS in scoring with 15. Andrew Gronigan scored 12. Bartlesville has won three of its last four on the guy’s side and improves to 8-11 overall

Both teams are next at Muskogee on Monday.
