Dewey and Caney Valley Set for Area Clash

 

The Dewey Bulldoggers have an area matchup on Thursday evening as they take on Caney Valley for a road contest. Both teams have struggled mightily in district play against state title contenders like Beggs, Victory Christian and Sperry. Both teams are still searching for there first district win of the season in 2A District 3.

Dewey is coming off a 48-13 loss last week to Kiefer. The Doggers trailed by just three points at halftime but saw a quick collapse at the start of the second half. Dewey head coach Tyler Caid says his team needs to learn how to finish.

Both teams are eliminated from playoff contention at this point but can use these final games as measuring stick going forward. One bright spot for Dewey is emerging underclassmen Dylan McDaniel who had a sack and a blocked extra point last week. Caid says McDaniel has proven himself as a top option on the defensive line.

The Doggers and Trojans meet up in Ramona on Thursday night. Radio coverage can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM starting at 6:45 p.m.
