Dewey Baseball Advances to Regional Title Game

Dewey Bulldoggers baseball is one win away from the area tournament after advancing to the regional championship on Thursday.
Dewey run-ruled Westville in their first game, 17-0, and shutout Beggs in their second game, 5-0.
In the opener, Dewey came to life offensively early. The Bulldoggers scored eight runs in the first inning to put the game away. They brought at least nine batters to the plate in each of the first three innings. They scored all 17 runs in the first three frames.
Dewey pitching did not allow a hit against Westville.
In Dewey's winners bracket game, the Bulldoggers rode a hot first inning on offense to the win, with help from Lathe Griggs on the mound. He struck out 13 over 6.1 innings of work, including this strikeout to get out of a jam in the fourth.
Dewey added runs in the fourth and fifth innings to stretch the lead to five. This aggressive baserunning play from Layne Gastel scored Dewey's fifth run of the game.
The wins send Dewey to the regional championship game on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. against the winner of Hugo and Beggs. Coverage can be heard on Sports Talk, 99.1 FM - KPGM.
