Football practices continue their first week across the area. At Dewey High School an emphasis was put on safety during the offseason program and that is continuing as fall camp opened on Monday. Trent Turner enters his second year as head coach with high expectations.

All through the summer Turner wanted to make sure all activities were being conducted with caution. He says for the most part all parties are happy with how things have gone.

Last fall, Turner had the undertaking of retooling an offense that had struggled for several seasons. This year the challenge is finding new players to replace a crop of seniors that put up big numbers in 2019. The Doggers system is based on simplicity. This should allow the top athletes to rise to the occasion and fill several skill position slots that have been vacated.

Dewey opens the season at Miami on August 28. The Doggers will then play Quapaw and Vinita at home during the non-district schedule.
