Oklahoma Wesleyan completed a sweep over Avila University on Saturday afternoon. A brief break in the weather allowed the opponent to make the trip from Kansas City.

The Lady Eagles struggled but ultimately pulled away late to win 72-63. It was a career night for senior Hannah Nealis who dropped 28 points in the victory. Nealis had this three-pointer late to help seal the game.

The Lady Eagles are 10-11 overall and 9-8 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play. OKWU currently sits in eighth place with two game remaining in the regular season.

The No. 22 Eagle men’s team got a resounding 84-53 win over Avila to complete the season sweep. Avila hung around in the first half but OKWU had too much down the stretch. The Eagles went on a 17-4 run to start the second half and never looked back.

Kaleb Stokes scored 23 points on the night to lead the team. This finish at the rim put an exclamation on the afternoon.

The Eagles defense held Avila below 30% from the field on the day. OKWU is now 17-5 on the season and 13-4 in KCAC play. The Eagles are currently in second place in the conference standings.
