The COVID-19 virus has officially infected a former Oklahoma State Cowboy. Marcus Smart, one of the NBA’s premier players with the Boston Celtics, announced that he tested positive for the virus on Thursday evening. He is one of 10 NBA players that has tested positive since last week.

In a statement on social media, Smart explains.

Smart played with Oklahoma State from 2012-2014. The 26-year-old from Lancaster, Texas has been with the Boston Celtics since he was a lottery pick in 2014. He is currently in his second season on a four-year $52 million contract with Boston.

Smart becomes the first athlete with Oklahoma ties to test positive for the virus.

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced earlier this week that many in the organization had been tested and they came back negative.
