Pawhuska and Caney Valley kicked off the 2022 high school football season on Friday night. Pawhuska did something not so Pawhuska like. The Huskies ran the ball.

It was all Pawhuska from the start in a 52-7 victory.

Todd Drummond rushed for two touchdowns and threw for one.

One of Drummond’s rushing touchdowns came in a flurry of 22-straight points for the Huskies. They never looked back.

Caney Valley, late into the second quarter struck back with a score of their own. And on the ensuing PAT the Trojans attempted and converted a drop kick extra point for their only extra point of the day.

Pawhuska went into halftime up 30-7 with another Drummond dime.

Pawhuska continued its success into the second half outscoring Caney Valley 22-0. Deacon Hendren was all over the field playing pretty much every position imaginable from kickoff specialist to quarterback on two-point conversions.

Tyrel Richardson broke off several big runs and John Reed seemingly had something to do with every tackle on defense.

Pawhuska, 1-0, hosts Cashion next week. Caney Valley travels to Haskell. You can rewatch the game archived on KPGMTV.com.
