The new turf surface at Rigdon Field at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium made its debut on Tuesday afternoon for Bartlesville’s home opener against Enid. The first game was delayed by one day as the final touches were being put on the field.

Preston Berg delivered a strike on the first pitch and struck out the first batter from the new artificially-surfaced mound. Center fielder Bradee Rigdon led off the Bruins half of the inning with a flyout to deep center. Bradee is the son of late Bartlesville Athletic Director and baseball coach Spence Rigdon who passed away in November 2019.

The Bartlesville Public Schools Board of Education voted to name the field after Rigdon. The new surface will be shared by BHS, Oklahoma Wesleyan University and the Doenges Ford Indians.
