There was a lot of regional flavor in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
The Draft is taking place in front of Kansas City’s Union Station downtown.
A former Oklahoma Sooner was taken in the first round. OU offensive lineman Anton Harrison was picked at No. 27 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars to help protect Trevor Lawrence.
Here is how it the Sooner pick sounded.
Meanwhile the Kansas City Chiefs also took a local kid. KC picked a Kansas City product and former Kansas State Wildcat, defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah
Dallas Cowboys selected a defensive tackle from Michigan, Mazi Smith.
First two franchises picked quarterbacks. Carolina Panthers took Alabama QB Bryce Smith No 1 overall. The Houston Texas selected Ohio State quarterback C. J. Stroud at No. 2.
Day three of the draft on Saturday will have a local flavor, as Bartlesville’s own James Droz will take the stage to announce a selection for the Kansas City Chiefs.
