Oklahoma Wesleyan's spring sports season has been officially canceled. The NAIA posted a press release to its website on Monday. It was announced on Friday that spring sports had been suspended by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

NAIA President & CEO Jim Carr said in a statement:

"The Center for Disease Control’s recommendation [Sunday] to limit gatherings to fewer than 50 people for eight weeks, meant we could not in good conscience move forward with the spring sports season and championships.

OKWU athletic director Kirk Kelley was optimistic that sports would resume, but now that is no longer a possibilty. Kelley said breaking the news to his athletes is toughest part of the situation.

Baseball, softball, tennis, golf and track will not resume their seasons.
