Nowata, OKU and Dewey search for District wins

Nowata and Caney Valley may be one of the most intriguing area matchups of Friday with both teams coming in with losing streaks, the Ironmen are 0-4 and the Trojan are searching for their first win over a varsity team since 2022. Keyshawn Verner is a Senior Captain for Nowata and has two interceptions on defense along with over 100 yards receiving, he details his mindset this week. 

 

Nowata travels to Caney ValleyFriday, pregame from Ramona begins at 6:30 with kick at 7 on KRIG and krigtv.com. Alex Benzegala and Kevin Dennis on the call in that one. The full interview with Keyshawn Verner will air during halftime.


Dewey is coming off their bye and the 0-3 Bulldoggers faces yet another tough test in 3-0 Metro Christian Dewey Head Coach Ryan Richardson  says that most pundits say Metro Christian is the favorite to win District 2A-1 4 and that his team will need to manufacture drives to match their opponent.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm at Bulldogger Stadium, in the homecoming game for Dewey.

 

Oklahoma Union is hoping to snap an 8 game losing skid to Pawhuska, as the 1-2 Cougars aim for their 2nd A-1 win. OKU Head Coach Steven Trammell says that the task is tall against a 3-1 Pawhuska team they haven't beaten in their last eight tries. Trammell says OKU needs to stay in the game by scoring early and limiting turnovers.
