The stretch run of the season is nearing for Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball as a doubleheader against Sterling College is set for Wednesday. The Lady Eagles will be heavy underdogs while the men’s team will look to continue a streak.

At 8-8 the Lady Eagles are in sixth place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Sterling is just a half-game out of first. OKWU has two wins and a narrow loss against teams in the top four of the league. Head coach Grace Hadley is confident the Lady Eagles can handle top opponents with the postseason around the corner.

The No. 16 OKWU men’s team has won its last three games against Sterling. The Eagles sit just one game behind Ottawa for first place in the league. Lance Tipton is the lone senior that sees regular time for OKWU. He says the key to competing for a title lies late in the game.

Tipton has averaged 15 points per contest against the Warriors in his career. The OKWU basketball doubleheader is set for 6 p.m. from Sterling, Kansas. You can listen on Sportstalk 99.1 FM KPGM.
