It was pandemonium at the Mueller Sports Center on Thursday. The fourth-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s team erased a 20-point halftime deficit to defeat Bethel College, 76-69. OKWU is 10-0 and continues its home winning streak to 17 games.

The Eagles trailed 40-20 at the break thanks to incredible sharpshooting from the Threshers. However, slowly but surely the Eagles cut in to the gap and reduced the lead to single digits by the twelve-minute mark. Josh Wilchcombe went to work in the post to help the comeback effort.

The Eagles would take their first lead with just over five minutes to go. Isaak Rowe’s layup gave OKWU a 62-60 lead that the team wouldn’t surrender.

Senior guard K.J. Malveau had just five points at halftime but he put the team on his back in the second half to finish with 24 points. Malveau hit five of the team’s nine second half three-pointers to put the team over the top for an incredible comeback victory.

The woman’s team wasn’t as fortunate as they fell short in a comeback attempt to lose, 64-57. The Lady Eagles trailed for a majority of the game but cut the Threshers lead to just two points with less than a minute to go. Bethel would convert from the free throw line though and the Lady Eagles would fall short.

OKWU is 7-3 on the season and 3-2 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Both team will play their games of the week on Saturday with trip to Bethany College.
