Patriot Athlete of the Week: Damien Niko

 

It is another Monday, which means it is time for another Patriot Auto Group Area Athlete of the Week, powered by Tri County Tech.

This week we look at a Bartlesville High football player who has made some waves statewide after a terrific start. Bruin wide receiver Damien Niko has solidified himself as one of the top pass catchers in 6A-II after an unreal start to the 2024 season.

Niko had six catches for 102 yards with two touchdowns during the BHS loss to Sapulpa on Friday. He had one TD receiving and one passing. It is the latest in a run of tremendous performances for Niko.

He talks about his start to the 2024 season.

The numbers have become staggering. Through only five games Niko has 40 catches, nearly 700 yards and nine total touchdowns.

Niko says he wants to play college football when he graduates in May, but is waiting on some of those specifics.

His senior year has highlighted the connection Niko has had with now three-year starting QB Nate Neal. Niko and Neal have taken a step forward in each of their varsity seasons together.
