Pawhuska Baseball Preparing for Postseason
The Pawhuska baseball team continues to roll as the postseason nears. The Huskies have now won eight of their last ten games after a challenging start to the year. Pawhuska started of the season at 1-7 but it appears to have turned the page on a rough start to the year.
The offense came out in full force last week as the Huskies scored a total 35 runs in three wins over Woodland, Blackwell and Dewey. However, the offense didn’t carry over into Monday’s game against Sperry as the Huskies lost, 8-2.
Ryan Jones has started the last three games on the mound and allowed just four runs over 11 2/3 innings pitched. Isaiah Walker has tallied four hits over the last two games. Walker’s patience at the plate has been an asset as well.
The Huskies will have a few tune-up games remaining with Nowata and a tournament date in Salina later this week. These ballgames will prepare the Huskies for a challenging district matchup at 2A No. 16 Morrison. 2A District playoffs begin April 25.
