Thunder Will Stay in OKC

 

Looks like the Oklahoma City Thunder are here to stay, as Oklahoma City residents overwhelmingly approved $850 million in taxpayer funds to build a new downtown arena in a vote yesterday.

The vote passed 71-29 percent. 

A continued sales tax starting in 2028 for six years will pay for the measure. 

The Thunder will sign a lease until at least 2050 after the new arena is built. The venue should open by 2029 at the latest.
