The Bartlesville soccer community is still buzzing about the hiring of new Bruin head coach Anthony Tucker. Bartlesville Public Schools announced he was the choice on Monday afternoon. Tucker becomes the second straight head coach to be hired at Bartlesville with connections to the area.

Last week, BHS went with Cody Price as head baseball coach, Price has family in the Nowata area. Tucker was a graduate of Bartlesville High School, and was an assistant on the Lady Bruins program in the past. Bartlesville High Athletics and Activities Director Spence Rigdon talks about the hire.

There may be some added benefits for Bruin soccer players with a more full-time coach, as well. Tucker’s lone sports job will be the skipper of the boys’ soccer team. Former head coach Vladan Glavonic was splitting time between BHS and the Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s program. Rigdon explains what those benefits might be.

We will have another story with an interview with coach Tucker later on this week.

He will likely officially be hired at the June Bartlesville School Board meeting later on this month.
