Tuesday is another landmark day for athletics in the area.

On Monday, high school football practice kicked off, and on Tuesday, area fall sports competitions officially begin, as there are a handful of local volleyball and softball games on the docket.

At Bartlesville High, the Lady Bruin volleyball team hosting Sapulpa will be the first officially sanctioned varsity event hosted in town since March 13. BHS volleyball has been practicing since July 15, with some mixed results in scrimmages.

Jenn Ward is into her second season with the Lady Bruins and details how the preseason has gone.

Ward went on to say that she wants her team to focus on serve and receive this evening. She said if Bartlesville can effectively return the Lady Chieftains serves, she believes they’ll have success.

As far as the event itself at Bruin Fieldhouse – fans will allowed to watch, but with social distancing. Any spectators attending will also be asked to wear masks. BHS differs from Tulsa Public Schools, which will not be allowing fans at indoor events for now this fall.
